We bought this heater at Fireplace Choice at a price about 40% lower than of the same item on the manufacturer website. So far we’ve only tested it and it works great…. Still too warm outside to put it to good use. Please note that the heater alone will not work, there’s a converter about $1k (purchased separately) that is needed to assemble this heater and make it function
I needed to contact the company for a couple of things: received broken bulbs, how to properly dispose of broken bulbs and handle new bulbs, issues with unit working. Each time I contacted the company their response was very fast and they immediately resolved my issue or answered my questions to a satisfactory level. They even assisted in troubleshooting the power switch I did not purchase from them, which resulted in me purchasing a replacement from them. Product works great and I’m looking forward to sitting outside on those cooler nights that used to drive me indoors.
Shipper helped with replacing damaged element, no questions asked. These heaters are sleek and designed extremely well. We LOVE Bromic! Thank you!!
Great for certain applications just not really mine.
For the application I used it for (in 3 walled garage with open front) unless you put extensions on it, it does not put out enough heat for your whole body. It keeps your upper body warm but from breadt down not really. Go the next size up. In a enclosed space would probably be great. It does look good though. Easily installed of course I'm also an electrician so it made the wiring cheap and easy lol. Good product but wish I'd went up to the next level.
I recently installed three of these heaters 2 (3000W) and 1 (6000W) and wanted to provide a review and information as I had a tough time with it myself while researching. IMO I would suggest buying more than you need as I have mine about 4.5' away from the chair backs of my outdoor dining table. At that distance 6000W is likely overkill but if you go over 6' or 7' I would say it isn't too much and for 3000W that distance is about right(and I wouldn't suggest going much further) if you really want to be able to feel the warmth. I have two 3000W installed spanning a distance of about 12' wide and I would say that is about right. You really do need line of site for these to work and do need to blanket the area you want to warm in order to feel it.
The first unit I purchased broke after 2Weeks. It provided plenty of heat for my 10x14 patio. Fireplace Choice gave me a full refund and I purchased the same unit again. Unfortunately I had to pay the electrician twice. Also the instructions from bromic are not very clear. You need to purchase the on/off switch or dimmer. I bought the dimmer which cost $795. I felt it was aRipoff. So all in, this unit cost me $3000. (Heater, dimmer and electrician coming twice. After I got over the price and hassle of getting it installed twice, I am very happy with the unit and it keeps me warm on the cold LA nights. 50 degrees. (Lol). I probably would have been fine with the 4000 unit. The remote/dimmer works well. You have the choice of 25, 50, 75 or 100% when you turn it on. There are up and down arrows on the remote that allow you to fine tune the temperature by 1% perClick. So if you want it at 33% you hit the 35Button and then tap the up switch 8 times. It still is tough to get over the 800 bucks for the on/off dimmer switch.
I ordered the brackets separately because some reviews said they did not come with the heater, but they did come with mine, so I returned the extra brackets. Electrician installed a 220 line to my back porch and assembled and mounted the unit. I have it mounted on a beam about 8 feet high and angled down at my patio sofa. Unit is about 8 feet from a person seated on the sofa and it is quite comfortable. So far the temperature has only gotten down into the fifties, but I think this unit would keep me comfortably warm into the forties as long as there is no wind. When there is a breeze, this heater is somewhat ineffective, but when there is no breeze, I love it. By the way, one of the two heating elements was broken when it arrived. I contacted the supplier and they immediately shipped me a new heating element for free and no questions asked. Good on them.
Had an electrician run a 240 line out to my 14ft x 14ft gazebo so this unit (6000W version) could be installed (note that doing so costed more than this unit!***.keep that in mind for your project budget...I received 3 quotes). The unit itself does a good job of putting out heat. Very directional though. This is installed top/center of a vaulted gazebo ceiling and I had to angle it to point toward the couches to get a bit more efficiency out of it. Pointing straight down on the coffee table resulted in some heat, but not enough to warm the general area under the gazebo. However slightly pointed directionally at the couche(s) works just fine.5 stars for the product itself, but 4 stars for Bromic for price-gouging their timer switch which I think is a very important safety feature. I have little kids and though they know not to touch the on/off switch for the heater, kids are kids and without a timer this could be accidentally left on for days without me knowing. Serious safety/cost issue here and Bromic wants over $700 for that switch. Their remote is also out of this world expensive.
