Hello
My wife wanted the sink in
Cheaply made! DON’T BUY!
A raspberry etched the finish off this sink! Enameled sinks don’t etch off with food. Our Expensive Caraway pan left marks that won’t come off even with a magic eraser. Caraway cookware marks always came off our previous sink. This is an under mount so to replace it requires removal of our 13’ countertop.
Skip
Scratches easily. Can’t use generic sink guard.
Cast iron sink
Looks lovely! So far so good.
American Standard Delancey Kitchen Sink
We have been very disappointed with this very expensive sink. When we remodeled our kitchen, which included new quartz countertops, we decided to replace our old Kohler cast iron sink, as it was getting worn. The Delancey sink was the closest match in size to our old sink (just much deeper, which we don't like). The porcelain on the new sinks very inferior. It is rippled and has more "tooth" (less smooth surface) than the old sink and therefore grabs stains like a magnet, especially coffee and the like. You would have to be after this sink constantly with Barkeeper's Friend to keep it looking clean. Worse than that, it got chipped within a couple months of when we started using it. Not because we dropped a big cast iron frying pan on it from two feet up mind you, just from incidental contact with a pan (i.e. pan sitting on rim of sink's sump while being scrubbed). This sink has an exaggerated sump (depression) around the drain hole, which our old sink didn't have (on that one, the SS clamp ring for the disposal was pretty much flush with the bottom of the sink). The Delancey design is very bad in this regard. The sides of the sump slope fairly steeply, leaving a sharp shoulder, subject to regular contact, on which (as we have found) the porcelain is VERY THIN and fragile. I would trade this sink in a minute for my old Kohler Addison (too bad they discontinued that sink!). I would point out that we never used a sink protector on the old sink, which was fine after 26 years of hard use, but had a silicone mat in the new sink... I plan to make a warranty claim with American Standard on this problem but am not too hopeful. I wouldn't recommend this sink at all.
Losing is luster
We've had the sink for about 8 months and it is already losing it's luster. Have only used Bon Ami 1889 formula which has very low abrasion for cleaning. The cast iron sink we replaced was 20+ years old and still maintained it's luster after years of using the Bon Ami. Expected the shine to be more durable on the new American Standard.
