Good Standard Filter
Go-to filter. I change mine every 2-3 months, works well. Might decide to upgrade to 1900 just because of the smells my basement creates. Usually a tight fit, but it will do the job. Price is a little high, but everything is expensive now.
Reduced quality
For years I have been using these filters and they fit snug. Now 3M has reduced the size and now the filter is loose inside intake and each furnace start and stop the filter makes a noise from the suction pulling filter up when on then falls down when off. Disappointed with companies reducing product quality especially 3M. I have to use duct tape to hold filter in place which is 3M also and it used to stick better for years and now I have to use more tape to hold due to this product quality also reduced.
Good filter but they made them smaller in size
The 20x24 filtrate 1500 changed the size and now it is smaller. The newest ones purchased are smaller in width and length compared to the ones I purchased a year ago. Now they do not fit properly. The dimensions printed on the filter reflect the size change but there is no notice that they went smaller. So disappointing.
110% Satisfied. Works with my (key)system specs.
I have a whole room filtration unit that I use the F2 bacteria, virus etc. filter.
Cleans Air But Restricts Air FLow
I don't know if I should give this 4 or 5 stars, because I really like the way it filters the air, but I can't get my house warm enough on cold nights. In the summer, the Filtrete 1500 works well, since I don't run the a/c too often and my home stays fairly cool, even on the hottest SC days. The Filtrete 20x25 size is also a good, snug fit, unlike some brands that are slightly smaller. However, as soon as the evening temperatures begin to fall below 40, I find that even a new filter will restrict air flow so much that I need to stand on a ladder to feel any heat coming from the ceiling vents. When I replaced it with a cheap fiberglass filter, the air flow greatly improved, but I also began to sneeze a lot and can see more dust on my furniture, so it's a double-edged sword, so to speak. In summary, I recommend this filter if you can get enough air flow from your vents to warm your home without putting too much stress on your heating unit.
Amazing filter for smoky regions
These filters are the best I’ve found so far. In California with the awful yearly fires and air quality, I’ve decided to really buckle down on making sure the air in the house is clean. With other filters I was still able to smell the smoke in the air and my throat/eyes would still burn but I don’t have that issue with this filter. It really makes the air smell and feel crystal clean. During fire season I change it out monthly but it is so worth it for our health.
good filter rate
I have been stepping up the level of filtration over this last year. we both have respiratory issues. not sure what is the biggest offender. we may be there. Problem' other than the MPR number or Merv number you show no comparison that would cause me to believe that the higher mpr filter would be better for us. there is a chart on the package, but it only shows the 1500 filter and use. why would i buy a 2200 or???? how do they compare, how about a chart that shows something other than just size and a number...
[Rewarded Review] Good filter didn't fit current furnace
I have used this filter in prior homes with good results. 20 X 20 X4 is the correct size for our air handler - but the Filtrete didn't fit. We ended up destroying it trying to get it into the furnace. I then noticed that the actual size is 19 7/8 X 19 7/8. The filter that had been in our air handler is 19 1/2 X 19 1/2 and was another brand. I had to go buy another with the smaller "actual" measurement to get it to work. Primary thing learned is to check the actual size vs the label size. It is included in small print on the filter frame. I thought they were all a standard size but that is not true.
Great Filter
This month I changed from having washable filters in my a/c to using disposable filters. I found out the metal filters were not doing much other than protect the equipment. The first day of using the Filtrete filter there was a world of difference in air quality. Been 4 days now, no allergy problems, sleeping better. It's great. Thanks for making a great product.
Really A NECESSITY TODAY!
These air filters are superior in quality and function, I even use the highest filtration level as a top notch replacement for hepa filtration in appliances and air filters at my business for decades now. One will easily be able to discern the difference in air quality when in use in just a few minutes. One can even make an inexpensive quality air cleaner with an ordinary household fan and and air filter simply taped to it as is demonstrated by a Professor at the University of Michigan on you tube. Really a need for most homes in all American cities today.
[Rewarded Review] Fantastic Air Filter
Been a fan of the 3M filters for years. We had our furnace serviced earlier in the month, and the service technician commented that it was nice servicing a furnace when the filter isn't extremely dirty. I told him that we use the 1500 series and change it every other month. He told me we could do the same thing, but use the cheapest blue filters and replace them every other month. I disagreed, and told him that we can agree to disagree, that the 1500 series keeps our house clean and has less dust than the other filters. He then changed his mind or at least his comment, and said that our house does seem really clean and less dust than most homes, and that the 1500 series might be the best choice for our home. It's worked for us, maybe for other households too!
[Rewarded Review] Stop Trying to Save Pennies On a good product
I have used your home air filters for over 20 years. This is the second time I am writing to you Stop trying to save pennies and make the shareholders happy. Make your paying customers happy. Last time if was a printing removal that you took off. Now in my most recent purchase from Lowes the Filtrate went up 11% in cost and you took away the reminder sticker usually includes. E notices are fine as an add on but most of your loyal customer base are middle age homeowner and are used to a physical sticker. Most renters could care less about paying and changing filters and younger millennials can not afford to be homeowners. Stop getting so cheap. Thanks, Elliot
[Rewarded Review] Greatly reduces allergens and dust
My son has allergies to dust, mold, cats, etc. His allergist advised us to use Filtrete filters. They really do help! He does't get runny eyes, cough, or sneezing since I replaced my other brand. He sleeps much better and my furniture is dust free longer. I was dusting my furniture daily with a special cloth, but now I only dust twice a week. I like that this filter captures pollen, pet dander, candle or kitchen smoke, bacteria and viruses. My home has very clean air now and we all sleep better.
[Rewarded Review] Clean Air!
I've been using Filtrete Filters for several years now. I use the purple 1500 16x20x1 size. The air quality inside my home is very clean and healthy. These products are much better than washing the old metal filter that I used previously. I never felt the metal filter captured allergens, etc. the way this filter does. The proof is very visible when I change the filter. I appreciate getting text reminders from 3M/Filtrete to change filter, too. The reminders are super helpful! I am a loyal customer for life and I highly recommend your products.
[Rewarded Review] No more allergy symptoms!!
My son has severe pollen allergies resulting in runny nose, watery eyes, and sneezing, sore throat etc. A doc recommended the Filtrete filters at 1500 or higher performance for him. I inserted it in our central air furnace and could not believe the difference! He slept well all night without a sniffle or stuffed up nose! These filters really work exceptionally well. Now I have to convince his school to install them because he and many other classmates suffer from allergies and it makes it hard on them to perform their best. Trust me, these work great. I stocked up on them and they are even tax deductible as a medical need!
[Rewarded Review] You get what you pay for!!
The saying is true...You get what you pay for! And I didn't want to put those cheap unmarked filters in my furnace after many people told me that a quality filter will help your furnace last longer and provide better air quality. So I took the recommendation and stuck with the Filtrete brand. I decided the 1500 was a good fit for me and I've never regretted it. I had a furnace inspection done recently and was told my furnace is so clean because I'm using a quality filter. I change it religiously every 3 months and it's doing a fantastic job. I won't buy any other brand!
[Rewarded Review] Best filter ever!!
I've been using the healthy living 1500 for a number of years, People don't realize that by using these Filtrete filters save you a bunch of money over and over again. Let me explain. Several years ago we always had the air handler/ furnace tuned up like your suppose to do every year this is where the technician comes in and cleans the inside of the air handler/furnace.
[Rewarded Review] Expensive for two at a time
Should be discounted for bulk purchase since high ac usage area and super dusty around this highway exit. Fills with dust within a month and a week and a half. So about forty to fifty days in seven hours ac actually running time. When ac kicks on the accumulation of small dust particles that were in attic ducts or maybe in teeny holes in ducts suck in and constant tug of war around this neck of the woods is tough but we shall prevail.
Requires frequent changes for high-velocity system
I had a new Trane XL95 high-efficiency system installed 2 years ago with a variable-speed, high-velocity fan. I have used Filtrete filters for 17 years. My fan will adjust its speed to keep airflow constant. If I am diligent about replacing my filter every 2 or 3 months, I now have some crowning on my filter from day 1, and substantial bowing after 3 months. When I failed to replace my filter until 6 months, I found that it had failed completely. This is not the fault of the filter, although I would request some strengthening of the wire/cardboard support structure. I would also request at note that says something like "dirty filters can fail catastrophically in high-efficiency HVAC systems." My filter material was sucked completly out of one side of the cardboard frame, and was intermittently hitting the furnace fan. I understand that "it should be intuitively obvious to the casual observer" that a dirty filter is a bad thing in general, but people need to understand that it is not just 3M's marketing department that suggests replacing your furnace filter every 3 months. In my case, my blower will simply eliminate the dirty filter on its own, without my knowledge or intervention. For those who are interested in the techno-speak of furnace air filters, there is a good article entitled "Is There a Downside to High-MERV Filters" on the internet. I like what I saw regarding the 3M filters that were tested, and I will continue to be a loyal customer. I will simply leave myself messages on multiple calendars to absolutely, positively, check my filter once a month and replace it every 3 months.
The best filter that I've ever used
For the last several years I’ve been using a reusable filter that can be cleaned every month and I thought it was doing a great job.
