I bought this so squirrels wouldn't chew through plastic. Cardinals refuse to eat from this feeder but smaller birds try and succeed. It is not easy to fill and can be very messy.

Larger birds can fit on here.

Cardinals, Rosebreasted Grosbeak, Baltimore Orioles as well as the smaller birds.

It's perfect!! This design is just what I needed to keep the red squirrels from getting inside and eventually tearing it up. I had become so tired of having to replace others so often, so decided to look to see what you had, instead of constantly buying them locally. Thanks so much for this great product, and for always being the superlative company that you are!

Do not buy.

If a medium to large bird lands on the feeder, it tips and dumps the seed in it. The tray is not attached to anything so it tilts easily. Lots of wasted seed.

The Worst Bird Feeder EVER!

If you have squirrels this bird feeder is a disaster. The squirrels simply lay on the top rim. The seed and feed spills out and the squirrels gobble it up. The squirrels have damaged the feeder -- the metal it is made from is thin -- not thick quality. Do not waste you money on this feeder.

I really like it. Very easy to fill. The birds and squirrels seem to like it too. I wish it wasn’t made in China, but what choice do you have nowadays?

I thought it was supposed to be for cardinals, but they are unable to perch and have to eat seeds from the ground, and that is disappointing.

The Best

I’ve had one of these for years and finally needed a replacement. I’m so happy you you carry it. The hanging handle is not attached to the cover, it’s attached to the feeder. Handles attached to the cover are a poor design. The whole feeder can come down and the cover is still hanging!

The Birds Love It!

We have a pair of Cardinals living in the trees behind our house. Chose this feeder for them. In less than 24 hours, they were on it. I drilled a 1/2"x60" into a tree limb and used 1/16" stranded cable to hang it. It's far enough from the tree that the squirrels can't jump over to it. They eat the seed off the ground and the Common Grackles keep them in line. Several different bird species feed here now. Almost every time we look in the backyard, there are birds eating. We love it.

Not good for safflower seed

I was looking for something to hold safflower seed, but this one spills out too much safflower at once. Maybe good for sunflower.

Good all around bird feeder.

Birds love these feeders. I have 3 of them. The only down side is that they tend to drop more seed than other feeders. They do hold a large quantity of seed.

Messy

Messy and inconvenient. You have to hold the mesh upward with one hand, while pouring the seed in with the other. It looks nice once it’s hung-but the squirrels get to it and the seed goes everywhere. Then within a few days, I’m pulling sprouts out of the flower bed from the seed I couldn’t clean up . So messy and inconvenient, and it is getting on my nerves. I have had it since May, and gave it a chance. Now I want to get rid of the thing and find something more suitable for the cardinals and my garden.
