Porter California King storage bed needs foundation

Whether this review should be downgraded to a 1 or upgraded to a 5 really depends on how American Furniture Warehouse responds to my concerns. My wife and I found this bed online and soon chose it over other possibilities. I am 6’6” and was excited about the additional length of a Cal King. The additional storage drawers at the foot of the bed are great and the bed matches our other bedroom furniture (although we are considering purchasing the rest of the porter bedroom set). The bed was advertised as a Cal King “Platform bed doesn’t require box springs.” We happily placed an order for the bed (it was not in stock) and eagerly awaited delivery. We were pleasantly surprised a few days later that the bed would be arriving a couple of weeks early. Confident in the bed’s impending arrival, I ordered a Cal King mattress for a platform bed. The bed was delivered and assembled (albeit somewhat imperfectly). My mattress (ordered elsewhere) came a day or two later. As I quickly opened and rolled out the mattress to decompress, however, I noticed a problem. A Cal King mattress is 84” long. The support slats on this platform bed only span 72-73” fully extended. That’s 11-12” too short! I have about 6” of unsupported mattress at the head of the bed and another 6” unsupported at the foot. Not to worry, I thought, I’ll just call the warranty rep and they’ll figure it out. Maybe they just left off a slat or two. After a visit from a service tech and a couple of discussions with the warranty representative, however, they said that it was the specifications for the bed that Ashley manufactures and only offered to take the bed back. I responded and am awaiting their response.

Queen Bed and chest

Recently I bought a new queen bed and chest from AFW and I love it. It is cherry and matches the dresser mirror and night stands that I already had. But the main attraction was the salesman. He was very professional and polite. He really worked with me and showed me different options to complete my purchase. I will definitely be back to AFW and I will go back to the same salesman.I will also spread the word to anyone I know who's looking to purchase new furniture.

Beautiful Bedroom Set but slightly shorter than standard queen

This is a beautiful piece of furniture, especially for the price; however, it is slightly shorter than most queen beds and a few inches wider. I also bought a Sealy Posturepedic Queen Mattress from AFW and it has to be forced into the bed frame lengthwise, but has about 8 inches of slates showing on each side. It is very difficult to put sheets on. There is no room to tuck a blanket in at the foot. I probably would not buy this again for that reason.
