Grandiose Schiffsbilder aus exzellenter Maltechnik

Geoff Hunt drfte wohl einer der besten Maritimmaler unserer Zeit sein, wenn nicht gar das Allerbeste. Das groformatige Taschenbuch zeigt nicht nur Segelschiffe aus dem 18. und 19, Jahrhundert, sondern zum Teil auch moderne Fregatten und anderes. Das Buch ist in Englisch geschrieben und ich wei nicht ob es auch eine deutsche Fassung gibt. Das Thema befasst sich unter anderem mit seinen Coverbildern, die Hunt fr britische Seefahrtautoren wie Patrick O'Brian gemacht hat, aber auch mit seinen Techniken, wie dieser diese fantastischen Gemlde geplant und entwickelt hat. Selbst wenn man nicht ausreichend des Englischen mchtig ist, empfehle ich dieses Buch auch als Bildband vor allem fr Freunde alter Segelkriegsschiffe. Das einzige was den Laien etwas stren knnte, ist das Fehlen der Angaben ber die Schiffstypen bei den Texten zu den Bildern. Im langen Text auf den jeweiligen Seiten wird dies aber nachgeholt.

Well designed and handsome publication, with beautiful reproductions of the artist's paintings of ships and maritime subjects. The author's comments on his works are most valuable, especially for artists and illustrators or those with a special interest in maritime art.
