Turns out, you’re not imagining things. The same bed can show up on multiple retailer websites with price tags that vary by hundreds of dollars.

It might sound surprising. It was to us at first, too! That's a story for another day, but it's why we created Spoken.

To illustrate my point, I chose a bed from the Spoken website this week. You may have seen our Sophos Platform Bed in Natural. It’s stylish, FSC-certified, and, depending on where you shop, it could cost anywhere from $1,600 to nearly $2,500.

So what gives? And more importantly, how can you make sure you get the best deal?

In this post, we’ll break down the seven retailers selling the same bed at wildly different prices. You might know by now that we spend our days identifying and matching identical furniture across 1,000+ stores. We are bringing transparency to your bedroom makeover. Let’s dive in and see who’s charging what… and who gives you the most bang for your bouclé.

Let's start with a quick breakdown of the price and savings by store. Remember: These are all the exact same beds; they are just sold at different stores. So, the main differences here lie with the return and shipping policies, delivery times, financing options, and perks that vary from store to store.

It's wild to me every time I see savings like this on the Spoken website. It's important to always double-check before purchasing a piece of furniture online (or IRL!) because you might be able to save hundreds of dollars by buying elsewhere.

So, what's the difference between these stores? You may be more familiar with some of them than others, so let's compare based on their policies for returns, shipping, delivery times, and other perks.

Store-by-Store Breakdown

Now that we know the Sophos Platform Bed is living a double (or… septuple?) life across the internet, let’s dig into the details. You'll first notice that the bed is given a different name at almost every store! On Spoken, we have used Lulu & Georgia's name for the bed: Sophos. Other than that, Old Bones Co. and France & Son have also used the same name. The name is unique everywhere else, though.

This is one reason why it can be difficult to find exact items online unless you search by image. When the same bed is given six different names at seven different stores, it's not as easy to compare prices.

Below, we’ve broken down exactly what each store charges, plus what you get for that price in terms of shipping, returns, delivery speed, and any unique perks.

1. France & Son: Swirl Upholstered Oak Bed – Natural ($1,859.25 – saves $631)

• Returns: Within 15 days for a refund (30% restocking fee) or 60 days for store credit; Items must be in new condition with original packaging to return, and original shipping costs are non-refundable.
• Shipping: Standard shipping includes tracking. Standard freight delivers to the threshold/doorstep, while an optional “Concierge Delivery” (White Glove) service will bring the bed to your room of choice, perform basic assembly, and remove packaging.
• Delivery Time: Varies; tracking provided after shipping. In-stock items typically ship out in 1–3 days, with freight transit averaging 2–5 weeks within the contiguous US.
• Perks: Optional removal/donation service—tax-deductible! Plus, extended warranty. The loyalty rewards program offers points on purchases and a $99/year membership program with extra benefits. The “Ultra” membership gives 90-day returns (a whole extra month for returns!), complimentary White Glove delivery upgrades on certain furniture (sofas/sectionals), and price-match guarantees.
• Financing: Financing isn't explicitly advertised, the checkout supports installment payment options like Shop Pay and Affirm.

2. High Fashion Home: Swirl Bed, Natural ($1,958.41 – saves $532)

• Returns: Returns of furniture, rugs, lighting, and mirrors are allowed within 10 days of delivery, subject to a 20% restocking fee. The customer is responsible for return shipping costs, which will be deducted from the refund. (All original shipping charges are non-refundable.) Returns may be refused without the original packaging. After 10 days, furniture is not returnable (unless defective).
• Shipping: Free delivery; return shipping costs are on the customer.
• Delivery Time: Not specified; contact customer care for more information regarding delivery times.
• Perks: They have a Designer Trade Program offering discounts to design professionals, and a large Houston showroom for local customers.
• Financing: High Fashion Home provides financing through Affirm (advertised as 0% APR for qualified buyers).

3. Paynes Gray: Union Home Swirl Bed ($2,231.10 – saves $260)

• Returns: Paynes Gray’s policy is strict: Furniture and any items that ship via freight are final sale and not returnable. They will not accept returns on furniture unless it is damaged/defective. If a freight shipment is refused or returned due to buyer’s remorse, the customer will be refunded minus all shipping fees and a 15% restocking fee. There is a 30-day return window for eligible non-furniture items, and the customer must cover return shipping.
• Shipping: Free shipping is advertised on all orders in the contiguous US. Standard small parcels ship free via UPS/FedEx Ground (in-stock items usually ship within 1–2 weeks). Large furniture pieces ship via freight with FREE curbside delivery (the item is delivered to your curb or driveway), but threshold delivery isn't guaranteed.
• Delivery Time: Freight transit times average 3–6 weeks after the item leaves the warehouse.
• Perks: They have a Designer Trade Program for design professionals and an Affiliate Program for influencers. Warranty issues are handled case-by-case; notably, if an item arrives damaged, they handle replacements, but no extended warranty beyond the manufacturer’s coverage is mentioned.
• Financing: Paynes Gray offers Affirm financing for flexible payments.

4. Old Bones Co: Swirl Upholstered Oak Bed – Natural ($2,379.00 – saves $112)

• Returns: Old Bones Co. offers a 30-day return or exchange policy on all products. Returns for a refund to the original payment incur a 15% restocking fee on beds and oversized items. (If you opt for a store credit or exchange instead, they waive the restocking fee.) The customer must arrange and pay for return shipping; original shipping costs are not refunded.
• Shipping: Old Bones Co. often runs promotions for free shipping, but their standard policy is that oversized items may incur a shipping fee. During major sales, such as Black Friday, they advertised “Free Shipping sitewide” and even a free White Glove upgrade on orders $1,600+. Standard freight is threshold (doorstep) delivery by default, and White Glove (inside delivery & assembly) is optional. However, Old Bones does highlight that during special promos, they give complimentary White Glove on high-value orders, so it’s worth checking current offers.
• Delivery Time: Delivery timelines are typically 2–3 weeks to process and prepare the shipment (if in stock), plus transit time, which varies depending on the carrier.
• Perks: Designer Trade/To-The-Trade program (with a sign-up for discounts) and an Affiliate/Influencer program. They advertise a 30-Day Price Guarantee – if the price drops within 30 days of purchase, they will honor the lower price. Warranty claims for any defects are honored within 90 days of receipt, but there’s no extended warranty beyond that.
• Financing: They partner with Affirm for financing at checkout (allowing pay-over-time plans).

5. Lulu & Georgia: Sophos Platform Bed ($2,479.00 – saves $12)

• Returns: Lulu & Georgia allows returns within 30 days of delivery if the item is in new condition with original packaging. However, oversized items (freight or White-Glove deliveries) incur a 15% restocking fee and no refund of shipping charges. (If an item was noted “Free Return” on the product page – usually smaller decor – then L&G provides a free return label, but large furniture typically is not free return.) Orders canceled in transit or refused on delivery will also incur the 15% restock fee.
• Shipping: Lulu & Georgia calculates shipping at checkout based on the item and location. Many furniture pieces ship for free or at a flat rate for threshold delivery, but White Glove (room-of-choice) is an extra cost. According to their freight policy, White Glove delivery fees range from $199–$369 depending on order total (e.g. $369 for orders $2,000 and up).
• Delivery Time: Typically, expect 3–4 weeks for delivery on large pieces.
• Perks: Lulu & Georgia offers free design assistance – their site invites customers to use a “Free Design Help” service, where their team can help with product selection and styling. They also have an online registry and an Influencer Program. They also offer 10% off for first-time newsletter signups and occasionally loyalty discounts via email. As for warranties, they don’t list special coverage beyond standard manufacturer warranties, but they do emphasize quality and will handle any transit damage claims promptly (damages must be reported within 48 hours of delivery).
• Financing: L&G supports Affirm at checkout (pay-over-time plans).

6. Forom: Wave Wooden Frame Bed ($2,479.00 – saves $12)

• Returns: Forom does allow a return within 30 days, but if you want your money back for a large item, you’ll lose 25% of the price + shipping costs. Choosing store credit avoids the restocking fee, effectively encouraging exchanges.
• Shipping: This bed qualifies as Oversized freight, which has flat rates by cart total: orders over $2,000 have a $315 flat freight charge for threshold delivery. White Glove delivery is offered for an additional fee—for a $2,000+ order, the White Glove upgrade is $410 flat. White Glove includes in-home placement, assembly, and debris removal. Standard freight is “Standard Delivery to doorstep," meaning you are responsible for bringing the item inside, setting it up, etc.
• Delivery Time: The delivery timeline for in-stock pieces is usually 3–5 business days to ship out, plus freight transit time (which could be 1–3 weeks depending on distance).
• Perks: They offer a Designer Trade Program (with exclusive pricing and a dedicated team). No-fuss returns/exchanges timeline. International shipping is available by quote.
• Financing: Available via Affirm, allowing 3, 6, or 12-month payment plans.

7. Joss & Main: Shirleen Upholstered Platform Bed ($2,491.00 – highest price)

• Returns: 30-day return period for most items, with customer-paid return shipping. Joss & Main follows the standard Wayfair return policy: you can return the bed within 30 days of delivery if it’s in original condition. However, return shipping costs are the customer’s responsibility. They have a return shipping service (they’ll deduct the freight cost from your refund), or you can arrange your own shipment. Important: The item must be disassembled and re-packaged securely in the original packaging for the return.
• Shipping: Free standard shipping is available on orders over $35, which this bed easily qualifies for. “Free shipping” in this case means a standard curbside/threshold delivery at no extra charge. Typically, the carrier will schedule a delivery appointment for large items. Joss & Main/Wayfair often also include Free Room-of-Choice or Full-Service Delivery on very high-end items, meaning the carrier would bring it inside and set it up at no added cost.
• Delivery Time: Delivery times are usually 1–3 weeks for freight items from Wayfair warehouses, and you’ll get tracking and a call to schedule delivery. Scheduled with 4‑hr window; white-glove and setup available.
• Perks: Joss & Main customers have a loyalty program perk via the Wayfair Credit Card’s “Platinum” tier that covers return shipping. However, that’s only if you are a cardholder who has spent enough, not a general policy. Cardholders earn 5% back in rewards on purchases across Wayfair sites, or can opt for no-interest financing for large purchases. Easy checkout, fast/free delivery, Wayfair Professional (Trade) Program, and MyWay membership ($29/month) are added benefits of shopping at Joss & Main.
• Financing: Wayfair Credit Card financing (0% APR promos or 5% back in rewards). Several buy now, pay later options, including Affirm and Klarna, are available at checkout.
