water tight water garden
So I got a small wading pool and added water hyacinth to the pool to balance the algae. Then found this nice large pot. So I placed the water and plants inside of it. They are doing great. The plants keep the algae down and get food from them. We currently are experiencing a draught here in central TN. And today is about 100 again. Now I have to figure out what to due in the winter. But for now the bees are happy when the blossoms bloom I just add water to replace what the extreme dry heat is taking.
Nice pots for a great price
These pots are perfect for what I was doing in the garden. Not too big or too small, just perfect for smaller hydrangeas and the grey goes nicely with the blue plants. Bonus was they were on sale.
I am so happy with this purchase! Love the color and size, our plant named Gordy had grown out of his original pot! He looks so handsome now! Lots of room to grow! Great Job! Thank you!
Perfect for my palm plant!
My palm has had a sheltered life, maybe say up until lately.
Love the Bloem planters %26 the “Ariana” style
Love the Bloem planters and the “Ariana” style is my favorite. They are lightweight but hold up well. The hot Florida sun can fade them (or any plastic planter) but these have done well unless exposed to full sun for 8 or more hours. MY ONE COMPLAINT— Bloem has discontinued their PURPLE Ariana planters. This merlot is pretty but better color for Northern gardens. The PURPLE was PERFECT and I miss it.
drill drain holes on the sides at the tray level
If your pot is filling up with water with no place to go, bottom holes will defeat the purpose of the self watering aspect of this pot. Drill 4, 1/4" holes in the sides, exactly the same height above or below the tray. There are farmers on You Tube who make self watering pots out of their feed buckets, who do this,so that the water does not fill up into the dirt area. You can also add some filter fabric, just above the tray to make sure the dirt does not go down into the water reservoir.

I like the green color and the price for that color was reduced which made the cost better. We remove the false bottom inside the pots and drill holes for drainage because heavy rainfall could cause the roots to sit in water. Nice shape. 16" diameter is a good size for larger plants. We use many of these to create an above ground pollinator garden of native plants where the ground soil (hard clay) is too wet most of the time for gardening.
Drainage is an absolute must
I bought three large containers with the water reservoir, to plant roses in front of the garage doors. I thought what a great idea. I almost killed two new rose bushes, with stagnant smelly water left in the bottom of these pots! That was my mistake! It was very simple to tip the pots with the soil and the roses on their side and punch out drainage holes in the bottom with a nail and a hammer. I had to change the soil in one pot as it had turned rancid. These pots are perfect now with drainage holes!
