I am really not the biggest fan of Grohe products. I think they are very over priced. So, we got this valve to accompany a shower tower that did not have a valve. It functions just fine to turn the water on and off - which is what it is supposed to do. I also like the small size of it, especially when compared to most other valves trim kits, which are huge. This is small and elegant and does the job.

This diverter valve has a trim ring that indicates that the diverter changes the water flow between the tub spout and the shower head. Typically, you don't need a separate diverter for this. The most common shower arrangement all over the world is to have a diverter incorporated in the tub spout. You pull the diverter knob up, and water comes out the shower head. When then does Grohe make this item and direct it to be used with a dedicated rough-in valve. Why go to the trouble and expense of running expensive behind-the-wall plumbing through a separate diverter like this?
