This towel shelf from Symmons Duro shouts quality. This is a very high-quality towel shelf— in polished chrome — that has all the modern and futuristic qualities that will last a lifetime. This will fit well in modern or contemporary homes as well as any home being renovated to higher standards. While this is certainly not a simple or cheap towel hanger, it is a quality product that speaks of sophistication. Installation was a bit frustrating, but still, well worth the investment !

Strong and beautiful

My review is of the Symmons Duro 22” Wall-mounted towel shelf with bar. Very strong metal towel rack. Beautiful bright chrome finish. Comes with clear installation instructions. Ensure they mounting brackets are attached to studs to get the best connection to the wall so the shelf can hold the most weight. I am very pleased with this towel rack and shelf.

Beautiful unit for towels.

This is a great towel holder for a cottage which is just the place we are using it in. This will be in one of the guest bathrooms and works well with putting a number of towels on the rack and then the guests can select their towel and hang it on the bar when they use it. This lets us have multiple guests use the same bathroom as is common when you have visitors. The chrome finish should withstand a lot of use and look good in the bathroom. It is important to mount this unit on a firm surface (like a 2x4 stud in the wall, or a plywood backer board) to make sure it doesn't break through unbacked wallboard. It has a very classy look and will be a nice addition to the bathroom.

Elegant Addition

This chrome towel shelf adds elegant storage to the master bathroom in a classic hotel style. The shelf is large enough for regular body towels and more. The installation was typical like most bathroom towel bars but the hardware is beefier to support the weight of the shelf bar. The kit comes with wall anchors, which I used without any reservations on security. The finish is a nice, bright chrome with a square edge frame and rounded hang rods. One small detail I was not expecting was the cube end that had a small indent line towards the front edge shelf. The shelf installed easily, stays flush to the wall and looks nice in the master bathroom.

poor mounting design

First, the good: This is a beautiful piece. The chrome is incredible, a true mirror finish, the best-looking chrome I've ever seen. It is a nice practical design that can be used either as a shelf or a hanging rack or both. Now the bad: They used the same mounting system as for a towel bar or toilet paper holder - you can see that right in the instructions. This is completely inadequate for a shelf that sticks out 10 inches and is rated for 24 pounds! (And it already weighs a solid 4-1/2 pounds.) As you can see in the pictures, the mounting brackets are less than 2 inches tall! Drywall is in no way strong enough to hold this thing up, no matter what kind of anchoring system you use. Within days it will be wobbling and carving two holes in your wall, and eventually it will come down, and the better you tried to put it up, the more damage it will do when it comes down. It actually comes with some funny plastic butterflies, one of which broke from handling. At best, you could put one end in a stud, but the spacing means the other end will never hit one. As both an engineer and a handyman, I know better than to put it up this way. I will have to make some kind of strong backing piece, screw it into studs, and then attach this rack to that. They need to redesign the mounting plates; if they were say 6 inches tall, there would not be a problem.

nice fixture

I got this towel bar with a shelf for a bathroom that has all chrome fixtures and I'm happy with the quality of the chrome plating and also the design of the piece. It will serve to have dry, clean towels on the shelf and I can hang a used towel on the bar so that it can air dry. I plan on opening the wall to put in wood backing because I don't think that the drywall anchors that are supplied with the rack will hold up to regular use. This is not a big deal since I plan on remodeling the bathroom soon.
