Damage

A good amount of the boards were unfortunately damaged with white or cut marks on them. My painters ended up painting the boards( black magic by SW) and it came out great. I probably would not recommend buying this product in less you can paint the shiplap.

So many damaged pieces

It’s a good thing we bought extra product coz many boards were damaged. We need paint to match boards that aren’t the same color white. Now, the trim isn’t available. We need it and don’t know when it will be available. Very annoying because we can’t finish the project.Otherwise it looks good but it took too much effort to get just this far and we’re not done. We just found out that we need to paint this product and then seal it! Why didn’t we know this prior to installing? not in desc.

I've ordered this product before and find it to be good quality but there are 6 boards in a box and this last order had quality control issues (three pieces were damaged). I had to return the box which significantly slowed down completion of the project. For the price, they need a better quality control system in place.

overall a good product . packaging should be better to avoid damage to ends of boards . a couple of boards were warped bad I was able to cut & work around this issue

I purchased 3 packages via special order packed by the manufacturer. Upon opening i found at least 2 of the six boards in each package which had chipped tongues and the paint finish was gouged requiring sanding and repainting. I have purchased this same product previously and it was flawless. Needless to say quality is not a consistency for UFP or Home Depot based on this special order.

Avoid This Product - Especially Pre-Painted

Box to box, they are not the same length or height. The paint (I bought pre-painted gray) chips easily and many boards were chipped when the boxes arrived. A couple boards were cracked. My project was not a running wall. It was 3 adjacent panels and the gap wandered and I had to start trimming the tounges to get back in allignment. What a pain.

Overall I am really happy with this product. Besides a few knicks and bumps, the finish is incredibly smooth. You will NEVER get a finish like this by painting yourself. The touch up paint I got did not match exactly, but I am pretty picky and I am happy with it. The materal cuts well, and is strong enough it does not need a bunch of nails in the face. The tongue and groove fit together nicely once I figured out I needed the nails to angle downward a bit so that the next board doesn't hit the nail.

I ordered these in sealed cartons of 6 boards. They arrived in excellent condition. The finish is beautiful! Just put them up, and you are good to go.

Disappointed

Im a professional carpenter so i made it look ok but the finish on the product is horrible. It looks ok from the other side of the room but within a few feet you can see how terrible the finish is. The finish is very uneven. Its glossy in spots and has streaks of a matte finish. Theres also air bubbles under the finish. Not to mention that about half the pieces i pulled out of the box had dings or cracks in them. They must have primed the boards with some sort of white shell so every ding or chip shows up white which looks terrible when youre going for a clean blue or gray look. Not worth the money at all

Nice product to work with. However, we ran out of boards for our project and had to order more. The new box came with boards just a fraction smaller than the first batch. Frustrating when you need the shiplap to line up. Fortunately, we were able to "fudge" an area that was not as visible. Always order one box more than you think you need!

Zero Quality Control

I bought three boxes of boards. All arrived at various lengths (+/- up to 2 inches). Nearly all the boards were damaged along the edges. The paint job was terrible - flaking off in areas, pooled up in other areas, completely missing on parts!

Love this product! Used for accent wall above my fireplace and its smooth clean finish is wonderful! I had NO issue with any of the planks, I would recommend to anyone wanting a weekend project with wonderful results! Must use a level for first plank and I spot checked each plank placed and because I only used an adhesive (Liquid Nails) I placed wedge spacers as it quick dried allowing tiny adjustments for leveling. Great product, You can do this!

DO NOT BUY

So these show beatiful on the site...they really do. When they arrive its obvious that there is ZERO quality control at manufaturer. These are damaged before being packaged. I woud return them but theyre on the wall. My wife really likes the color. Any time you have to cut prepare for chips. Doesnt matter the blade, if you tape cuts, its just explodes and chips. I hate that i spent money on this.

Order extra!

I agree with several of the reviews. The product looks nice once installed. However, UFP-Edge quality control is horrible. 25% of the boards are either split or have flaws in the paint. I ordered prepainted product to avoid the hassle of painting. Now, I have to order extra product, but HD is out of stock, so I'll have to postpone my project until they get new stock. Normally, it's recommended to order 10% more than you need. I would recommend 25-30% more with this particular product.

Find a different product. This is not an inexpensive product but I needed black wood and didn't want to use "faux" shiplap and paint it. I want to detail the damages and flaws in the boards I received, but Home Depot claims that's a delivery problem which can't be included in a review. If you opt for this solution I recommend you have it delivered to a store and that you open the boxes and inspect the boards before leaving the store because I guarantee you too will find flaws, some serious enough to render large portions of the board unusable.
